Clean label is a term that gets used loosely in the food industry. It appears on packaging as a selling point, often without a clear definition behind it. For Monorom, it means something specific and non-negotiable: every product contains only its core ingredient.
Our pepper is pepper. Nothing else. Our teas are the plant itself — roselle flower, butterfly pea, lemongrass — dried and packaged with nothing added or removed. When our spiced cashews launch, the seasoning will be real lime, real chili, real prahok powder. No MSG. No artificial flavouring. No fillers. No preservatives.
This approach costs more. Clean sourcing and honest production are more expensive than shortcuts. Ingredients that come straight from a named farm, processed without chemicals, and packaged without additives carry a higher cost than their alternatives. We will not pretend otherwise.
But we believe the people who buy our products deserve to know exactly what they are eating. And we believe that what they are eating should be worth the price. That is not a luxury position. It is a basic one. The fact that it feels unusual says more about the industry than it does about us.
Every Monorom label is a short read. That is by design.
